RTCC Board Members Needed: Get involved in Your Community

Looking to make a contribution to our community?

Ralph Thornton Community Centre (RTCC) is a gathering place that welcomes, connects and engages the community in all its diversity. The board is responsible for the overall management, operation and maintenance of the centre. There are six three-year terms available.

Are you interested in:
  • Making a difference in the Riverside/Leslieville community?
  • Encouraging equity, diversity and accessibility?
  • Representing diverse aspects of our community and the larger city?
  • Conscientiously contributing your time & energy?
  • Bringing integrity, dependability, skills and fresh ideas to the board and its committees?

We especially encourage candidates with experience in legal, finance and fundraising to apply. Familiarity with Chinese cultures and languages is an asset. Individuals representing the Chinese, Black and South Asian communities are especially encouraged to apply. While priority will be placed on those who currently live within the RTCC catchment area (Broadview to Coxwell, Danforth to Lake Shore) all are welcome to apply.

Board members requirements:
  • Commit to a three-year term
  • Become an RTCC member (cost $2-20 per year)
  • Participate on 2 committees and working groups in addition to the Board
  • Contribute approximately 10 hours per month for Board and committee activities
  • Regularly attend and participate in monthly Board meetings (fourth Wednesday of the month)

  3. Interview with the Nominations Committee members;
  4. Observe an RTCC Board meeting (March 27, April 24 or May 22 at 7pm at RTCC)

Can’t commit, but want to volunteer?
