RTCC Youth Group (school year)
The youth group meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The program consists of regular workshops, discussions, and small group activities that build leadership skills, including problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and other skills identified by youth. The group is tasked with creating an event or series of smaller activities to benefit their community. We welcome young people from the riverside community between the ages of 13 – 17 years old and live in RGI housing. The goal is to provide at-risk youth with opportunities to grow and build skills that they will benefit from throughout their lifetime. We spend time working on employment skills, including cover letters, resumes, and interview skills. Additionally, the group plans 2 social outings per year to connect with each other and just have fun!
Leadership-In-Training Program (summer)
Applegrove Community Complex, Eastview Community Centre, and Ralph Thornton Community Centre have partnered to create a leadership skills training project for youth ages 13-17 from Toronto Community Housing communities within our neighbourhoods. The program runs during the summer and provides a 2 week in-class training in leadership skills for 12 participants, followed by 6 weeks of coaching during their job placements in our summer camps.
